TV can be great (especially since HBO starting giving free rein to creatives) but more often than not the schedules are filled with mind-numbing shite obsessed with celebrity, mediocrity, triviality, corporate propaganda, commerce and stupid people. TV is where we get most of our information from nowadays but how much of it is useful, relevant or inspiring? Not much. Even kid's TV is crap nowadays...
